Cross country is nearing its end for the season and that means one thing, state championships. The Bloomfield-Wausa harriers qualified three competitors for state at the district meet Thursday, October 17 in Oakland.
Senior Breana Gallup qualified for state, Friday, October 25, with a 9th place finish. Gallup qualified for the second straight year with a time of 20:35 minutes.
The girls’ squad placed 4th at districts, leaving them one place shy of making it to the state championships as a team. Gallup, Claire Trenhaile, and Lily Nagengast all ran personal bests, while Hannah Nelson, Cierra Gallup, and Alexis Hamm all ran near personal bests.
Tyler Haigh and Kyle Young placed 12th and 14th, respectively, to qualify for state on the boys’ team.
The NSAA Cross Country State Championships will be held in Kearney on October 25 at the Kearney Cross Country Club. The Girls Class D race begins at approximately 2:00 pm and the Boys Class D race begins at approximately 3:00 pm.
