Knox County SheriffThe Knox County Sheriff’s Office fingerprinted approximately 85 children at the Knox County Fair, this year.  Children from babies to teens are fingerprinted by the Sheriff’s Office Staff and receive various safety items and literature.  The fingerprint cards, or copies of them, are not kept by the Sheriff’s Office but are given to the parents to keep for a permanent record.

This program was started in the early 1980’s by then Sheriff Wes Eisenbeiss, as a public service for the residents of Knox County.  It has continued through the years by Sheriff Jim Janecek and Sheriff Don Henery.  In some cases, the Sheriff’s Office has now fingerprinted two generations of Knox County Residents and/or their relatives.  While an exact number is not known, it would be safe to say thousands of kids have been fingerprinted for their parents over the last 30 years.
