On Saturday, June, 26, 2010, a report was received of a one vehicle accident on 879 Avenue 2 south ¾ east of Bloomfield, NE. A 2000 Dodge driven by Jessica McDonald, 17, of Bloomfield and a passenger, Dustin Poppe, 17, also of Bloomfield, went off the road and rolled into a field. Jessica McDonald was fatally injured and Dustin Poppe was flown to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, IA with injuries. The vehicle was totaled.
Bloomfield Fire & Rescue responded to the accident as well as Life Net. The accident was investigated by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and assisted by Bloomfield Police Department.
On June 24 2010 a report was received that a flatbed trailer owned by TopKote Inc. of Yankton, SD that was parked in a private drive, was flipped on its top, drug across the street, and flipped back on its wheels. Damage was done to two rims on the trailer as well as its jack. A dollar amount of damages hasn’t been determined yet. During the investigation a Winnetoon, NE man admitted to doing this. Reports are being forwarded to the Knox County Attorney concerning the Criminal Mischief.
