On May 15, 2010, a report was received of a motorcycle accident, approximately 2 miles north of Verdigre, on Highway 14. Robert Schutte, Verdigre, driving a 1989 Honda motorcycle, was traveling south on Highway 14, and struck a deer.
Schutte was transported by the Verdigre Rescue Squad to the Creighton Area Health Services, with non-life threatening injuries. The Verdigre Fire Department and Police Department also assisted at the scene. The motorcycle was a total loss.
