The FFA Chapter held its annual awards banquet Sunday, April 25.  The evening began with Hannah Seagren singing the National Anthem.  That was followed by the introduction of the 2009-2010 officer teams from Bloomfield, Niobrara and Wausa.  Bloomfield president Morgan Kauth presided over the opening ceremonies.  After a welcome by Morgan, a delicious meal catered by Vicki Ketelsen was served.  During the meal, attendees enjoyed a slide presentation of the years many activities and accomplishments.

Niobrara president then re-convened the meeting asking members to award the eighty-three certificates of appreciation to individuals and businesses that helped the chapter this past year.  This was followed by the conferring of honorary degrees on several parents, individuals, and businesses that “went the extra mile” in helping the chapter succeed this year.  Those receiving honorary degrees were, Scott and Kristi Hauger, Leon and Diane Gieselman, Darrel and Barb Fehringer, Joe and Rose Kauth, Doug and Linda Jensen, and Dave and Staci Kleinschmit.  Also receiving degrees were school administrators Kim Lingenfelter, Brad Hoesing, Angie Guenther and Margret Sandoz.
 
This year there were several recipients of our special appreciation awards due to the fact that many were involved in the newly established crop research plot.  Others receiving the award were Farm Credit Services for a $750 donation for travel expenses to the 2010 National convention, Bloomfield Vet Clinic for their involvement in the Pfizer contribution program, and the AmericInn and Ruby Tuesday’s in Lincoln for the wonderful treatment we receive when we are at State Convention each spring.
 
Chris Kalkowski, representative of the Nebraska FFA Foundation then shared some incite to the operation of the “I Believe in the Future of Ag” campaign, announcing that the Bloomfield Chapter would be receiving a check for $450 through the program.  This was followed by several members thanking him for the free jackets they received by participating in the “True Blue” Program.
 

The Banquet continued honoring the senior parents, awarding Discovery, Greenhand, and Chapter Degrees, reviewing proficiency accomplishments and announcing state convention results.  Then the Scholarship and Leadership awards were given.  One person from each class in Bloomfield and Wausa were awarded these pins while one person from the whole school in Niobrara was chosen.  Those receiving Scholarship pins from Bloomfield were Ashley Fiedler, Austin Hamm, Tanner Schumacher and Ali Gieselman.  Wausa’s recipients were Alex Cunningham, Michelle Haselhorst, Devan Key, and Aaron Kleinschmit.  Niobrara’s recipient was Wade Foner.  Receiving Leadership pins were Bloomfield’s Emily Kersten, Becca Broders, Hannah Seagren, and Morgan Kauth.  Wausa members receiving leadership pins were Adam Kleinschmit, Dakota Cunningham, Derrick Frevert and Cody Jensen.  Niobrara’s recipient was Curtis Dather.  It was then announced that Cody Allen was receiving a Livestock Performance Grant to attend NECC and participate on the Livestock Judging Team.  Alumni representative Glenda Byerly then awarded scholarships to seniors, Morgan Kauth, Lynndsy Hauger and Ali Gieselman.
 
Next was the announcing of Star Members in several areas.  First year members receiving the Star Greenhand Award were Ty Alexander of Bloomfield, Savannah Reynolds of Niobrara and Adam Kleinschmit of Wausa.  Senior members receiving Star in production was Lynndsy Hauger for her flower production and receiving Star in Placement was Morgan Kauth for his employment with Kauth Lawn Care and MorJo Cedar Tree Cutting.  The Dekalb award was awarded to the student that excelled in leadership, scholarship, SAE and involvement in the FFA program.  This year’s recipient was Ali Gieselman.  Morgan then gave an inspiring presidents retirement address.

The final event of the evening was the announcement of the 2010-2011 officer teams.  The Wausa team was announced first.  Next years officers are Dakota Cunningham-president, Alex Cunningham-vice president, Michelle Haselhorst-secretary, Adam Kleinschmit-treasurer, Jeff Bloomquist reporter, and Kortany Albrecht-sentinel.  Niobrara officers are Curtis Dather-president, Jacob Bathke-vice president, Clayton Hanzlik-secretary, Alan Ruda-treasurer, Savannah Reynolds-reporter, Wade Foner-Sentinel, and Cyrina Forman-parliamentarian.  New officers for Bloomfield are Hannah Seagren-president, Tanner Schumacher-vice president, Emmalea Johnson-secretary-Becca Broders-treasurer, Emily Kersten reporter, Austin Hamm-sentinel, and Kylie Abbenhaus-parliamentarian.  The retiring officers installed the new officers, and the meeting was closed with a salute to the flag.
 
The FFA chapter wishes to say congratulations to all award recipients and thank you to everyone for the support they have given us throughout the year.  They would also like to extend a special thanks to the retiring officers who devoted much time and effort to make this a very successful year.
