2010 Wausa Track

Well, on a less than desirable day, the Wausa Track Teams competed at the Knox County Invitational held at Creighton High School. As one of the elder statesman at the Knox Co. Invite, I conferred with Gayle Peterson of Crofton and Randy Kliment of Creighton and we could not come up with another time when this meet had undesirable conditions.

With that being said, we were very pleased with the results and performances of our athletes during the competition. It seemed like we just bared down and really focused on the task/tasks at hand and competed very well. The Wausa boys finished in 4th with 48 points and the girls finished 7th with 23 points.

Sr. Nick DeBlizan was the only gold medalist for the Vikings as he won the Shot Put with a personal best throw of 42’-00” Nick was also a member on the 4x100m relay which finished 5th. Senior Steven Ortmeier was a four time medalist as he placed 3rd in the Triple Jump with a mark of 37’-3 ¼” and 4th place finish in the 110 HH with a time of 18.4 followed by a 5th place finish in the 300IH with a time of 48.4 and Steve was also a member of the 1600m relay which finished 3rd. with a time of 4:13.10. Senior Jared Gillilan also had a great day as he finished 2nd in the 800 with a time of 2:16.3 and was a member of the 5th place 4×100 relay and the 3rd place 1600m relay teams.
