On March 23, 2010, a report was received of three mailboxes being destroyed on 528th AVE. These mailboxes belonged to Roger Block, Kevin Barta, and Ron Krupicka. Tampering with mail and mailboxes may be considered a Federal Criminal Offense.
Anyone with information about these vandalisms is asked to call the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, or your local Law Enforcement Agency.
On March 28, 2010, a report was received of a vehicle accident in the swamp, approximately 4 ¾ miles west of Niobrara, on Highway 12. A 2005 Ford F150, owned by Terry Kitt of North Bend, NE, was found abandoned in the water along the highway. Investigation revealed that Mr. Kitt had driven into the swamp during the late evening hours and abandoned the vehicle without notifying law enforcement.
A report is being forwarded to the County Attorney asking for Mr. Kitt to be charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
