A dedication for Terri Suhr was held on March 20, 2010 at the W.H.S Gymnasium during the 17th annual Alumni Volleyball tournament. Family and classmates of Terri wore matching shirts to honor her for being the founder of the Alumni Volleyball tournament back in 1993. Pictures were taken of family and classmates, a volleyball was signed by all the teams and players, and a big poster was set up for all to autograph or write special feelings or comments for Terri to show her appreciation and support. Three new teams played on her behalf. The “02” team was her nieces and nephews, “77” team her brothers and sisters, and the “79” team her classmates. Thanks to all who showed support for Terri and her family.
Terri came up with the idea of this tournament in the early 90s. The money raised went into the girls program. She would bring in a college pitcher to put on a clinic for the young girls each year she coached. With additional fundraisers field improvements were made. She was a driving force to improve the lights, field, fencing and the restroom/concession stand. The program is now named the Wausa Youth Summer baseball/softball program and this tournament continues to support it.
A big thanks to Terri for everything she accomplished with this program. The money is a must to help these two programs. It lowers the cost per family to allow the kids play ball year after year. It’s always fun to see the kids play ball. The parents, grandparents and members of our community come to watch the kids play.
Thank you, Terri. You will be missed.
