Sick, but Not of the Weather

slush_roadsThis has been a long week, not because of the weather but because of the illness! Yes, after surviving all winter without being sick now when the weather starts to become nice I am laid up. Coughing, sneezing, fever and achy joints have laid me up since Tuesday.

I thought that the flu season was over, but in fact it can run as late as May according to the CDC website!

So, I called the Doctor on the second day and they said really all you can do is treat the symptoms including the fever. So, I have been friends with the Motrin bottle every six hours and really that did help. So, I am hoping that I am on the downhill of this yuck and back in the groove soon. The laundry and dishes need to get done and the kids are tired of frozen dinners!

So, today I am going to enjoy the sun try and get some of this ice chiseled off of the sidewalk. Which brings us to yesterday, the city crew was out working on the roads in my neighborhood. There actually were ruts in the ice on the roads that made it almost impossible to pass two vehicles. You could move up onto the ice but as you traveled down the road you would slip right into the rut again. When you passed another vehicle it would drop you uncomfortably close to the other car. On many roads you would have to stop and let the other car pass just to avoid any problems.

Today with the bright sun, warm weather and scraping done, the roads should be close to clearing. This is a good sign that spring is coming.
