Sheriff’s End of Year Report

Knox County Sheriff, Jim Janecek, reports that during the calendar year, 2009 his Office handled 181 Criminal Complaints;  referred Criminal charges to the County Attorney on 92  individuals; some individuals with more than one charge; and Recovered $ 1,807.00  in stolen property.

71 Arrest Warrants were served in Knox County. 195  prisoners were booked into the Knox County Jail , including people sentenced by the Knox County and District Courts, and the Santee Sioux Nation Tribal Court.

The Sheriff’s Office investigated, 37 Vehicle Accidents, processed 726 Civil/Criminal Papers, served 542  Civil/Criminal Papers, and investigated 10  deaths for the Knox County Coroner.

A total of 862 Vehicle Inspections were done at the Sheriff’s Office in 2009, and a total of 178  Handgun Application Certificates were issued in 2009.

1623 calls were made to the Sheriff’s Office on the 911 lines, from January 1st through December 31st, 2009. 

Sentenced prisoners worked a total of 1500 hours of Community Service at the Knox County Courthouse.

Reimbursements paid  to Knox County: for prisoner board for 2009,  is – $57,444.69  from Federal/(BIA), County, City, Prisoner reimbursement;  $948.00  – School/Work Release; $25,000.00 – Santee Dispatching Contract; $357.00- Hazmat Fingerprinting.
