Knox County Sheriff’s Report

On January 14, 2010, a report was received of a one vehicle accident on Highway 121, north of Wausa, Nebraska. Trevor Wakeley, driving a 1996 Pontiac, went off the road and rolled into the east ditch. Wakeley was not injured.

On January 22, 2010, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, along with Bloomfield/Lindy Fire Department and the Bloomfield, Lindy and Crofton Rescue Units responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 12 and 543 Ave. Involved in the accident were Alan J. Crosley, Niobrara, and Dawn Smith, Bloomfield. Crosley was taken to Mercy Medical Center, in Sioux City, IA, by Bloomfield Rescue, and Smith was taken to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton by the Crofton Rescue Unit.

The accident occurred during dense fog. The Smith vehicle was northbound on 543 AVE, and the Crosley vehicle was eastbound on Highway 12, when the two vehicles collided. The Crosley vehicle rolled at least once before stopping in a field northeast of the intersection. The Smith vehicle went into the same field, but did not roll.Both vehicles were a total loss. The air bags in both vehicles did deploy.
