On October 22, 2009, at approximately 7:30 P.M., the Knox County Sheriff’s Office investigated a one vehicle accident on Highway 84, 1 mile west of 536th Ave. Clayton Krueger was traveling westbound on Highway 84 when he lost control on the snow covered highway and slid into the ditch on the south side of the highway. The vehicle then rolled onto its side. No injuries were reported.
On October 24, 2009, a report was received of a car and combine accident 2 miles north and 1 mile west of Crofton. Christian Steffen, Crofton, driving a 1998 Cadillac, collided with a Case IH combine, driven by Greg Wortmann, also from Crofton. Steffen was transported to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, in Yankton, SD, by the Crofton Ambulance, with minor injuries to his face. The Steffen vehicle was a total loss. Damage to the combine had not yet been determined. The Crofton Fire Department and Police Department also assisted at the scene.
