As we finish another week of school, Wausa will have another School start. Sunday School will start at most area churches.
Thabor Lutheran Church start is scheduled on Sept. 13th at 9:00 AM. The cradle roll party, which is for those just starting Sunday School will start at approx. 9:15 a.m. in the new fellowship hall. Thabor’s classes are as follows: Nursery-Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades, 3rd and 4th grades, 5th & 6th grades, and 7th & 8th grades. There is also an adult class that meets in the library at 9:00 a.m.
The Sunday School classes at Thabor also participate in several Projects during the year. The classes are assigned a Sunday (the last Sunday of the month) throughout the Sunday School year to go to the Assisted. Living and share their lesson with the residents. The classes also collect food for the Knox County Food Pantry, make cards for children at the Children’s Hospital in Omaha and give funds to the ELCA World Hunger Appeal.
Thabor also has many other youth programs including Jr. Missionaries that meets once a month through out the school year after school. Their first meeting was Wednesday September 9th. The Jr. High Luther League and the Sr. High Luther League meet once a month throughout the school year. Anyone wishing to attend Sunday School or any of the other Youth Organizations at Thabor are welcome to come.
The Evangelical Covenant Church will begin Sunday School on September 13th. The theme will center on Crocodile Dock, which was the VBS material used earlier this spring. It will be a Crocodile Dock reunion of sorts. Classes are set as follows: Pre-School (3+), Kindergarten-2nd, 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, 7th-8th, 9th-12th. There is also a Men’s Adult Group and Women’s Adult Group that meet.
Snack Shack Kickoff is September 23rd. The opening night will take place at the Curt & Kathy Hennings farm. There will be a dinner, provided by the CE Board, along with fun & games and perhaps a campfire. Nancy Hageman is heading up the program, which includes choosing and assigning material for elementary classes and devising a cooking schedule. This group is open to all children in the community and meets most Wednesday Nights.
High League continues to be a very exciting program, attended by 9-12th graders of all denominations across the board. Curt Hennings is the leader of this group, and he and his wife, Kathy host weekly Wednesday night meetings at their home, starting out with a quick Snack Shack dinner at the church. Any high school young adult is welcome to attend.
