Two Wausa Atheletes Compete at State

Wausa Public SchoolThe 2009 Nebraska State Track Meet will be held May 22nd – 23rd at Omaha Burke Stadium, 12200 Burke Blvd., Omaha, Nebraska.  This year two young women from Wausa qualified for the State Meet.  Savannah Wakeley, a senior is returning to the State Meet after a wonderful finish last year.  As a Sophomore, this is Peyton Swanson’s first trip to Omaha for the State Meet.  The girls are coached by Greg Conn.

Savannah will participate in High Jump and 100 Meter High Hurdles.  Savannah placed 1st in the District High Jump and 1st in the 100 Meter High Hurdles.

Peyton will be participating in 1600 Meter run.  She placed 2nd with a time of 5:55 at the district meet to qualify for the State Meet.

    Two ladies with high achievement as their goal. Hard work pays off as they represent our school and community in this festive event in Omaha. Pole Vault? We never knew she even did that since Wausa doesn’t have a Pole Vault pit. Is this a misprint or just a trick to stir some curiosity?

    Thanks for the updates and even though the girls had achieved better performances during the season, a huge ‘Hats Off’ to their accomplishments by making it to State!
