Veterans Day 2007 in Wausa

Today is a day to recognize all Veterans, both past and present, for their sacrifices and commitment to serving their country and fighting for our freedoms.  Today in Wausa, the annual Veterans Day Program was held at the High School Gym at 10:00 AM this morning.

The program started with the Advancement of the colors by members of the community who served as Color Guard.  The high school band preformed the Star Spangled Banner and the Kindergarten through 2nd grade preformed a music rendition of the Pledge of Allegiance.

This years Master of Ceremonies was LaVada Mainquist and Pastor Michelle Oetken was the Guest Speaker.

This years Voice of Democracy winners was introduced by Larry Carlson and were Kelsey Suhr and Abigail Banks.  Third Place was Chris Rodenborg.

The 3rd through 6th graders and High School Choir also performed along with the High School Band.

Today is the day that most businesses also recognized Veterans Day so many businesses in Downtown Wausa are closed including the Bank and the Post Office.

What a nice program presented on behalf of all our veterans, but especially to those we have right here in Wausa. Everyone is so proud of your sacrifices and accomplishments. We ‘Thank You’ from our heart to yours, and continually share the thought with you, that Freedom does not come ‘free’. This All-School program was a beautiful expression from those who still care about our Nation and its future.
