Boys Youth Basketball Practice Starts

The Youth in Wausa did not have much of a break from their last football game in Allen to their first basketball practice this last Saturday.

The plan is again to play against other towns from the area.  The boys first practice was held Saturday morning from 8:30 to 9:45.  More practices are in the works and letters will be delivered to school when plans are set.

If you have any questions or would like to have your child play you can contact Darren Vanness.

It is really terrific that these youngsters are going to get a greater head-start in learning and playing the game of basketball this year. Coach Ron Nelson and I had run some ‘Fun-to-be- mental’ intro skills/drills practices over the past 5 years and are now combining our program with the existing competitive season for better continuity in player growth and development.

This is a plus for any young boy that has a desire to try and become a basketball player irregardless of their own confidence-factors.

Don’t think that by waiting, postponing, or hoping that evolution will improve your game or future chances in becoming a better competitor. The longer you delay the opportunity to participate, the greater the gap in athleticism and understanding how ‘team sports’ create leadership, poise, self-control and success.

Each player on the V-8’s football team never had a clue that they would have the fun, learn the game, shine individually, and experience ‘team success’ until they made the effort to check out the gear and get on the field!

There can be the same positive, experiences gained from this basketball season as well. That is why WE as coaches love to see you participate…the opportunity, the excitement, the work and the rewards…that is the American dream and these ethics haven’t changed yet.
