Former Laprino Plant; Hartington, NEHartington, Nebraska may fill an empty facility with a high-tech family owned business.  Leprino Foods closed the Hartington plant in 2003.  Hartington officials have worked hard to fill the vacancy ever since.  Hartington officials have not announced the name of the company that is looking at the plant, but they say it will be an automated non-slaughter processing facility that could eventually employ 100 people. The floor workers would bone, slice, package and ship meat products.

The advertised openings include 29 production jobs; 25 processing jobs for slicing, packaging, boxing and shipping; four maintenance positions and five supervisor positions. Positions at this time are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A second shift may be available in the future.

An informational meeting will be held at the Community Center in Bloomfield.  The meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 PM.  You can also download an application from the Hartington Website at http://www.ci.hartington.ne.us/.
